Peter Khalil MP

Member for Wills, Victoria

Chair of Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security

Australian Labor Party

Total Interests: 24

Latest alteration: Travel or hospitality - 11/05/23

Source: Statement of Registrable Interests - this contains interests declared as at 11/04/22 and alterations since then.

This statement contains interests declared as at the dissolution of the previous parliament on 11/04/22 and any alterations since then, including new interests and amendments and deletions to existing interests. The date of an alteration is when it was declared to the register, not when the change occurred.

Open Politics has amended the wording and formatting of some MPs' and Senators' declared interests to improve readability or to correct mistakes. To notify us of a mistake or oversight, email sean@openpolitics.au.

Problems: 1. Khalil breached the register rules by failing to declare the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China reimbursed his return flights to Washington D.C. in September 2022 to attend IPAC's Indo-Pacific forum. He declared the fights on 20 March 2023 following our revelations.

2. In declaring the flights to the register Khalil failed to disclose IPAC also provided him with 3 nights accommodation in D.C. He only declared this after Open Politics contacted his office on 21 April 2023.

3. Khalil breached the register rules by failing to declare within 28 days that Hawaiian Airlines paid for his return flights to Honolulu in October 2022 to attend the Australian American Leadership Dialogue. He declared the trip four months late on 21 March 2023 following our expose about his D.C. trip.
